I’m back with my baby probiotics talk to bring you a quick update on Elijah’s probiotics journey! A couple weeks after Eli was born, I introduced you to Evivo. We didn’t know anything about baby gut health with Sebastian. Thanks to my amazing mom friends, I now know it’s one of those things we needed to look into!

When we came across Evivo, we knew it was the perfect fit for our family. There are many types of probiotics that are marketed for babies. This probiotic has a proprietary strain of good bacteria B. infantis EVC001 that is clinically proven to create a protective environment in baby’s gut by lowering the bad bacteria in baby’s gut by 80%. This bad bacteria is linked to common newborn issues like colic, diaper rash, eczema, fussiness, poor sleep and gas. Only Evivo contains B. infantis EVCOO1, a superior strain of B. infantis* clinically proven to create a protective environment in baby’s gut.

Now that Eli is four months old, I can tell you with full confidence that probiotics have saved our sanity as parents! It’s crazy to think that something so important isn’t talked about enough, and therefore, more parents don’t know how important it is for their baby’s gut health!

Today, though, I wanted to do something fun! I thought it would be a great time to bring you some fun facts about Evivo & infant probiotics and how it can also help you and your family if you’re in search of a great probiotic!

✔️ The first 100 days of life are now known to be a period of rapid immune system development in infants. The type of bacteria in baby’s gut highly influences how that development takes place, with certain types of bad bacteria causing intestinal inflammation and improper immune programming.

✔️ Paired with breastmilk, Evivo’s uniquely adapted strain thrives in your baby's gut, rapidly populating it to crowd out the bad bacteria — especially those linked to a higher risk for conditions like colic, eczema, allergies, obesity, and diabetes.

✔️ Breast milk contains all the nutrients baby needs for growth and development in the first 6 months of life. However, a major portion of the nutrients in breast milk, Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs), are indigestible by your baby without B. infantis in the gut.

✔️ Historically, Bifidobacteria such as B. infantis dominated the baby's gut microbiome. When B. infantis is present, it works to keep many other strains of harmful bacteria from growing. Unfortunately, due to modern medical practices, such as antibiotic use and c-sections, the vast majority (9 out of 10) of babies in the US no longer have this bacteria in their gut microbiome.

✔️ Your baby is born without gut bacteria. The first bacteria they receive for their own gut microbiome is at birth, from you, Mom. Back in the day, a strong baby gut was largely due to the good bacteria, B. infantis, that mothers passed on to their babies during childbirth.

Why we love Evivo for Elijah? That part is pretty simple - it gives us the very best of peace of mind. As parents, when we know we are doing what is best for our babies— we feel whole in heart and mind. That is how we feel as parents, knowing that we are helping Elijah’s little body develop properly by giving him the very best we can. Because Evivo helps develop a baby's metabolism and immune system and builds the foundation for good health, we know that it’s playing a big role in Elijah’s gut development that will last a lifetime.
